1. Kathmandu

You really don’t want to miss out on a city picked by Lonely Planet as its “Best in Travel 2019”. From narrow alleyways to the vibrant Durbar square, this capital city bursts with life from every corner. Therefore, it’s not for the faint-hearted.
The nose-like design is the Nepali number ek (one), signifying unity. And above, is a third eye signifying the state of higher consciousness.
Kathmandu’s charm is evident in its heritage-soaked streets with the Swayambhunath Stupa being the best sight in the city. The crowning glory of the Kathmandu Valley represents an important symbol for the locals. The white dome symbolizes earth and the 13 stages to nirvana is mimicked by the 13-tiered tower.
2. Pokhara

Known as the gateway to the famed Annapurna Circuit, Pokhara offers a welcomed respite from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Phewa Lake is at the heart of this city, so be sure to take time off for a stroll along this stretch.
Paragliding is one of the best ways to enjoy Pokhara’s views.
If you have spare time, then opt for a boat ride to truly admire the beauty of this serene lake. Pokhara’s attractions also takes us to the Mahendra Cave. Known for its ancient stalagmites and stalactites, this limestone cave also homes a mini temple that’s worth the walk inside.
3. Sagarmatha National Park

Set in the Himalayas, the UNESCO-listed Sagarmatha National Park offers majestic views of Nepal’s incredible flora and fauna, along with Mount Everest. However, you’ll have to work for your reward, as it’s remote location makes it quite a challenge to get up close and personal. From Kathmandu, take a short flight to Luka, where you can begin your trek.

Once here, set your sights on the blossoming red rhododendrons while keeping an eye out for snow leopards. Additionally, don’t leave without checking out the Gokyo Lake. The world’s highest freshwater lake offers fantastic views of glaciers and snow-capped mountain peaks.
4. Chitwan National Park

There’s no doubt that the Himalayas are the best attraction in Nepal. However, the Chitwan National Park provides a refreshing view, especially after two weeks of snow capped mountains, lakes and rough treks for company.

This massive, UNESCO-listed reserve is one of the best wildlife parks in Asia. While wild elephants, rhinos and crocodiles are the big beasts of this space, the park’s grandest drawcard remains to be the elusive Bengal tiger. April and May’s favorable weather also make it the best time for wildlife spotting, thanks to better visibility, open grasslands and the arrival of migratory birds.
5. Annapurna Circuit

Considered the Ali vs Frazier of mother nature, Annapurna Circuit vs Everest Base Camp is a question that falls upon every traveler in Nepal. While the latter is more popular and offers the world’s highest peak, we’re here for the diversity of the latter.

Regarded as one of the world’s best walks, the Annapurna Circuit follows the Marsyangdi Valley heading north into the Himalayas, before descending into the desert-like Kali Valley. For the best experience, short pit stops to surrounding areas of Manag and Braga are a must.
